Sustainability

By the year 2030, we, alongside our sister business, Dustacco Engineering, aim to achieve Net Zero by reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by 40% from our 2021 baseline.

What sustainability means to us

Operating across diverse sectors on varied projects (complexity, scope and scale) requires that multi-skilling and continuous personnel development is a constant, and we feel somewhat proud of this and of the ‘person-centred’ culture we’ve nurtured with our 85-strong direct staff. People are at the heart of the business and we endeavour to set ourselves apart by doing the right thing and supporting our people.

The business is guided by the ‘3-P’ sustainability model – People, Planet and Profit – for resilience, ongoing sustainability and social responsibility and our shared values illustrate this:

  • Respect
  • Excellence
  • Professional Curiosity and Flair
  • Social Inclusion

We are 100% family owned, Scottish Living Wage employers and strong supporters of Scottish manufacturing, having made the Scottish Business Pledge which promotes Fair Work.

A sustainable choice

Watermiser Cooling Towers are wholly manufactured in the UK reducing emissions incurred during the transport.

We also pride ourselves in our cooling towers being/having:

  • Long lifespan
  • Low energy production
  • Recyclable
  • Low maintenance
  • Cost effective
  • Energy efficient motors

Recycling

Our cooling towers can contribute to the circular economy, as they can be repaired, reused, and finally recycled to start the cycle again. And they have a useable life of over 30 years and we often support our customers in moving, or reselling their towers to new sites and we are happy to see them being given a new life.

We’ve set challenging 40% GHG reduction targets based on the Science Based Target initiative’s methodology, and we’ve identified a number of projects to help us start reducing our emissions. We are part of a worldwide group of organisations, the SME Climate Hub, which means we have publicly committed to these targets and have undertaken Carbon Champion training. We hope we can inspire others to take action and work together in tackling this climate emergency.
