Founded in the early 1970s, Watermiser has a long history in the UK cooling industry and has developed over the decades.
Today we are innovative leaders in the UK cooling tower and industrial water-cooling market, placing sustainability at the heart of everything we do, operating across a wide spectrum of sectors including distilling and brewing, food and drink, pharmaceutical, automotive and other manufacturing as well as commercial buildings’ cooling systems.
We are one of few water cooling solution providers that can offer a truly turnkey service from design right through to install and maintenance – we achieve this through collaboration with our sister company, Dustacco Engineering. Dustacco is is an established pipework and mechanical services provider, offering a range of mechanical design, manufacture and installation services across utilities sectors.
Each business offers stand-alone projects and services, but, vitally, the two also work together on client projects and on product design and development as well as project management and site attendance. This offers both businesses enhanced depth of offering, flexibility and capacity.
Operating from our base in Newmilns, Ayrshire, we are well placed to serve the whole of the UK and beyond.
From a drawing board in his Glasgow flat in the mid 1960’s – early 1970’s, mechanical engineer Morris Somerville established both Dustacco Engineering and Watermiser Ltd.
Both companies have enjoyed sustained growth over the years to become innovators and leaders in their fields serving some of the world’s most respected brands across a vast range of industries.
Operating across diverse sectors on varied projects (complexity, scope and scale) requires that multi-skilling and continuous personnel development is a constant, and we feel somewhat proud of this and of the ‘person-centred’ culture we’ve nurtured with our 85-strong direct staff. People are at the heart of the business and we endeavour to set ourselves apart by doing the right thing and supporting our people.
The business is guided by the ‘3-P’ sustainability model – People, Planet and Profit – for resilience, ongoing sustainability and social responsibility and our shared values illustrate this:
We are 100% family owned, Scottish Living Wage employers and strong supporters of Scottish manufacturing, having made the Scottish Business Pledge which promotes Fair Work.
With People at the heart of our business, we endeavour to set ourselves apart by nurturing a culture of ‘doing the right thing’. To operate as we do, across diverse sectors on varied scale and complexity projects, often for world-renowned brands, multi-skilling and continuous personnel development is imperative. We are proud of our collective skills and expertise, and of the ‘person-centred’ culture we’ve nurtured with our 85-strong direct staff.
With people at the heart of the business and our endeavours to set ourselves apart by doing the right thing, it’s obvious that Health and Safety is high on our agenda.
We truly believe that open communication and employee engagement is an essential part of creating a culture of behavioural safety, and we are on that enriching journey.
In doing so, we have embraced the practice of holding company-wide ‘Safety Stand Downs’ and even had a company-wide ‘Climate Strike’ in late 2019 to support the climate agenda and promote discussion.
Safety and Climate focussed days like these help bring all of our people together, share ideas and talk about issues or problems they might be experiencing at site or in the workshop. It also gives us a golden opportunity to revisit incidents (safety or quality) where lessons can be learned. These sessions have been widely appreciated by our staff.
We are working towards ‘Healthy Working Lives’ accreditation and we hold SafeContractor certification along with ISO 900 and ISO 14001.
